Many potential clients are now looking for lawyers through a mobile phone or other mobile device such as an Ipad/Ipod.  It is important that your site is set up for visitors who find you on one of these devices.

People who browse your website with a mobile device see things in a different manner than other visitors. First, the screen is usually much smaller. Generally, a couple inches wide, to up to 8 inches. It is important to have the primary information available, but not have huge images or other things that would not be readable.

Second, people who browse your site from a phone are more probably likely to call you for an appointment. It is important to maximize your website in order to make it incredibly easy for them to call you; such as a click to call button.

Third, many mobile browsers do not have full function ability. It is likely they can not view certain .pdf files, some images, and many videos. While technology has improved greatly in the past few years, there are still some limitations. It is important to have a version of your website that is fully functional for these mobile visitors.

Having a mobile website will not affect your standard website that most people see as long as you set it up correctly.

When a visitor goes to a website, the internet browser (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) sends certain information to the website. One of these things is called a User:Agent, which basically tells the website which browser and operating system the visitor is using.  In this way, your website can figure out if your visitor is using a mobile device. Once the website knows what type of device the visitor is using, you can use software to decide whether to direct the visitor to the main page, or a special page for mobile websites.

Below are screenshots of the stardard website, and screenshot of a mobile version of the same website homepage.
